Potentiometers Demonstrate Low Resistor Tolerance Error

Ecnmag.com - August 29, 2008

Analog AD592xDesigned for open-loop applications, Analog Devices’ AD529x family of single-channel 10-bit programmable digital potentiometers offer less than 1% end-to-end resistor tolerance error over a supply voltage of ±15 V. The 14-lead TSSOP-packaged products use the iCMOS modular manufacturing process to combine CMOS and bipolar technologies to enable the device to support dual power supplies in the ±10.5 V to ±15 V range and single supply operation in the 21 V to 30 V range. The 256-tap AD5291 and 1,024-tap AD5292 offers 20-times-programmable memory, a wiper setting controlled through an SPI-compatible port and internal fuse blown to save the wiper position. The 1,024-tap AD5293 has the same features, but with volatile memory. Pricing for the AD5291 is $2.29 each, the AD5292 is $2.62 each and the AD5293 is $2.55 each in 1,000 quantities.
