Programmable serial port to Ethernet device server enables network interface

ICP DAS USA announced its PDS 700 series of programmable serial to Ethernet device servers. These compact, pod-like machines offer a host of features to network-enable devices on the plant floor and in the office and home environments. Any device with a RS-232/485/422 port can be connected to an Ethernet network and thereby be remotely controlled and monitored. With the VxComm utility, the built-in COM port on PDS-700 models can be virtualized to a standard COM port of a host PC. The 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet port is fully featured with auto-negotiation, auto MDIX and LED indicator while the RS-485 port is similarly sophisticated with its self-tuner ASIC controller. The modules in the PDS-700 series offer powerful programming functionality as device servers which run on ICP DAS's built-in MiniOS7.
