Metal Halide Lights Intended for Hazardous Locations
Larson Electronics’ magnalight.com announced the addition of several new portable metal halide lights for use in hazardous location areas. OSHA requires the use of explosion proof lighting in confined spaces and other areas where there is a continuous presence of flammable vapors. UL certifies light fixtures as Class 1 Division 1 that are appropriate for these types of hazardous location areas. The EPL-24QP light fixture carries a Class 1 Division 1 rating and can be used in these types of hazardous location areas.
Featuring stout tubular aluminum legs and non-slip aluminum foot pads, the EPL-24QP’s 24 inch diameter, 400 watt explosion proof metal halide light covers a large area and is ideal for cleaning tanks, plant turn-a-rounds and other maintenance efforts where permanent mounted explosion proof lighting is unavailable. The EPL-TP-2X70 explosion proof tripod mounted metal halide light series offers a wheeled tripod or wheeled telescoping cart support for two 70 watt explosion proof metal halide lights. The EPL-TP-2X70 series is easily dismantled and moved from one location to another. The wheeled base enables operators to tip the 8 foot tall lights backwards and roll them into a new position.
“For maintenance, new construction and other temporary lighting applications, magnalight.com offers a wide range of high powered, explosion proof lighting for hazardous location areas,” said Rob Bresnahan with Larson Electronics. “Our new tripod mounted 400 watt metal halide explosion proof lights can easily illuminate large work areas as a single light source. The double headed 70 watt metal halide lights on a wheeled tripod is more suitable for very temporary hazardous location lighting applications, where the operators will be continuously moving the lights from area to area. It is important to bear in mind that a single 70 watt metal halide light fixture will generate more light than a 300 watt incandescent light. These are designed to be long life, highly durable portable explosion proof lights. With minimal maintenance, these lights will last 20 years. Explosion proof lights always cost much more than conventional lighting, so operators want to consider power, light color and longevity when selecting explosion proof lighting. The Magnalight portable explosion proof lights will are tough, durable and long lasting.”
