MCUs Integrate RF Transmitter Functionality to Address Industrial Apps

Atmel introduced a ATA874x single-chip UHF ASK/FSK RF transmitter family targeting a broad range of proprietary wireless industrial and consumer applications. This new AVR product family operates in the license-free ISM frequency bands (868 MHz to 928 MHz, 433 MHz, and 315 MHz). With a low-power AVR CPU, an RF transmitter, and a sleep-mode power consumption of 160 nA, the ATA874x family members address battery-driven applications such as remote controls or garage door openers. The QFN24 packages, measuring only 5 mm x 5 mm, allow the creation of extremely small designs.
