Spread Spectrum Oscillator Lowers a Product’s EMI Output
Cardinal Components introduced a programmable spread spectrum oscillator from 1.5 MHz to 200 MHz. The CSSC is said to lower a product’s electromagnetic interference (EMI) outputs when compared with a conventional clock generator. The first in the series, “CSSC” is a 5 mm x 7 mm and 5 mm x 3.2 mm SMT programmable with HCMOS output. The device is pin compatible with conventional SMD oscillators, making its use a simple drop-in replacement. The device operates at 3.3 V and 2.5 V. Additional features include stability options of 50 ppm and 100 ppm maintained over temperature ranges of (0°C to +70°C), (-20°C to +70°C), and (-40°C to +85°C). The center spread is + 0.25 percent + 2 percent, and the down spread is –0.50 percent -4 percent, making the CSSC suitable for copiers, LAN, Printers, scanners, industrial automation, consumer electronics, and markets requiring rapid EMI resolution for products going to production quickly.
