Rugged SBC Demonstrates Low Power
Using Intel T7400 Merom Core 2 Duo dual core processors and Intel's Virtualization Technology (VT), Aitech Defense Systems’ 6U VME C160 SBC draws 25 W of power. The component incorporates a metal thermal management frame supporting integral stiffeners for resistance against shock and vibration in radar and sonar communications processors, autonomous vehicle IED and RPG protection subsystems, mission management computers, and heads-up display controllers. The SBC offers 2eSST and 2eVME functionality, and VME and PCI legacy support via a Tundra Tsi148 bridge that handles simultaneous transactions and FIFOs to prevent PCI/X-to-VME deadlock. The device exhibits up to 2 GB fast DDR2 SDRAM at 667 MHz; up to 8 GB of onboard Flash disk (NAND Flash) with IDE controller; and a solid state disk (SSD) with up to 16 GB of memory, as well as auto-wear leveling. From $6,050.
