Temperature Sensor Integrates EEPROM
Performing in DDR3 memory module applications, ON Semiconductor’s CAT34TS02 12-bit (plus Sign bit) digital output temperature sensor exhibits 2 Kb of Serial Presence Detect (SPD) EEPROM. The JC42.4-compliant component exhibits ±1°C temperature sensing accuracy from 75°C to 95°C and ±3°C accuracy from 20°C to 100°C across a supply voltage range from 3 V to 3.6 V. The 2-mm x 3-mm 8-pad TDFN-packaged device measures and records the system temperature approximately 10 times per second, with readings compared to three trigger limits stored in the internal memory registers. Readings can be retrieved by the host system via the I²C/SMBus interface and over- and under-limit conditions are signaled on the open-drain EVENT pin. The EEPROM contains 16 pages of 16 B each and a 16-B page write buffer, supporting the 100-kHz and 400-kHz I2C protocols with permanent and reversible software write protection.
