Four-String SSLD Employs I²C Interface
Suiting white, RGB, and RGB-plus-amber configurations, Maxim Integrated Products’ MAX16826 programmable 4-string SSLD uses an I²C interface for programming the output voltage. The 5 mm² 32-pin TQFN-packaged component presents a 4-channel linear current-source driver, an ADC, and the ability to detect and react to LED open-and short-circuit faults by triggering internal circuits to disable the faulty elements. The device exhibits cycle-by-cycle current limiting, output overvoltage protection, overtemperature protection, withstanding of load-dump transients of up to 40 V, cold-crank condition operation, and operating temperatures from -40°C to 125°C. Pricing starts at $2.05 in 1,000 quantities and up.
