Converter ICs Eliminate Secondary Feedback

Reducing Power Supply Component Count by 30%, Power Integrations' LinkSwitch II Series AC/DC switched-mode power conversion ICs eliminate the need for optocouplers and all secondary-side CV/CC control circuitry as well as all control-loop compensation circuitry. Integrating all control and protection circuitry plus a 700-V MOSFET in an 8-pin package, the devices have a CV output tolerance of ±5% and a CC tolerance of ±10% over a temperature range from 0° to 100°C. Features include frequency jittering to greatly reduce EMI filter costs, auto-restart, output short circuit protection, and hysteretic thermal shutdown. The RoHS-compliant converters meet IEC 60950-1 HV creepage requirements between Drain and all other pins and all single-point failures are handled safely.
