Audio Processor Chip Integrates Bluetooth for Mobile Phone Applications
CSR’s MusiCore1 single-chip stereo audio processor with Bluetooth overcomes the limitations of a phone CPU in handling both audio and voice processing. It supports decoding of all mainstream music file formats including MP3, AAC, AAC+, WMA and SBC, and its DSP architecture reduces the power required to process audio files: 5.25 mW for an MP3 file, compared to the 80 mW consumed by a phone’s CPU for the same decoding, according to the company. The IC can provide a phone with 100 hours of music playback, and the phone CPU can remain asleep when MusiCore1 is handling music files. Based on the company's Kalimba 64 MIPS DSP, MusiCore1 offers audio quality comparable to standalone MP3 players - with 95 dB signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR). The company also provides 30 dB of dynamic background noise reduction.
