Low Cost I/O Expansion for Embedded Designs

versalogix_SPX_installed_WEB.jpgVersaLogic announced a line of low-cost I/O expansion boards called Serial Peripheral eXpansion  (SPX ) modules. The SPX format provides designers with an easy-to-implement I/O expansion platform for both standard and custom functions. The format uses a proprietary implementation of the Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) Bus that operates at high speed on a simple 14-pin interconnect cable. Initial SPX offerings include an 8-Channel Analog Input module, CANbus controller, 4-Channel Analog Output module, TTL I/O port expansion, and an 8-Channel Solid State Switch. The format also easily accommodates custom requirements and custom designed SPX modules will be made available through VersaLogic's Research & Development group. Up to 4 SPX modules, of identical or different functionality, can be used per system. They can be bolted to the host board, or located up to 2 feet away. All modules are RoHS compliant and are designed for extended temperature operation (-40°C to +85°C). Pricing starts at $60 each and volume discounted OEM pricing is available.
