Half-Watt Power LEDs for Interior/Exterior Lighting and Backlighting Applications

Avago Technologies introduced what is said to be the industry's first half-watt (0.5W) high-brightness LED in an industry-standard PLCC-4 surface-mount (SMT) package. The 0.5W ASMT-QWB2 (white) and ASMT-QxB2 (amber, red-orange and red) series of SMT LEDs, which are available in white, amber, red-orange and red colors, feature a small package size, a wide 120° viewing angle, and are optimized for long operating life under severe environmental conditions. Moreover, these new high-brightness LEDs were designed to dissipate heat more efficiently to provide superior thermal management and consistent light output. The LEDs are suitable for use by designers of automotive interior and exterior lighting, electronic sign and signals (ESS), office automation, home appliances and industrial equipment.
