Researchers in Washington State University’s School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science have developed a method for computers to teach other computers in a teach-student sort of relationship. The robots – called agents – were able to teach each other video games Pac-Man and Starcraft.

Matthew Taylor, of WSU, noted that the ultimate goal is to get computer “agents” to teach humans, and they chose video games as a platform because it’s very easy to get humans to participate with something as familiar as Pac-Man.
He added: “Whenever a robot learns something, we want to make sure it can teach it to another robot.” Skynet? Not so much. “They’re very dumb,” said Taylor. Even the smartest robots get easily confused, he said.
