Venture capitalist stepping down from Dell board
Venture capitalist James Breyer is stepping down from the board of struggling personal computer maker Dell.
The decision announced Monday means Breyer will surrender his seat on the boards of three major companies. In the past week, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Facebook Inc. have both said that Breyer isn't seeking re-election to their respective boards.
In an emailed statement about his departure from Facebook's board, Breyer said he is trying to focus on other responsibilities, including his recent appointment to the board of Harvard University Corp.
Breyer has been on the Dell Inc. board since 2009. His tenure will end when the Round Rock, Texas, company holds its annual meeting this summer.
Dell has a deal to sell itself for $24.4 billion to a group that includes CEO Michael Dell.
