Scientists and officials gathered at New Haven’s Omni Hotel on June 2 for StemCONN 013, a symposium celebrating Connecticut’s successful discoveries in stem cell research.
Pictured at the event are (from left) Senator Richard Blumenthal; Valerie Horsley, professor of molecular, cellular, and development biology at Yale; Jewel Mullen, commissioner of the state’s Department of Health; and Catherine Smith, commissioner of the state’s Department of Economic and Community Development.
Governor Dannel Malloy and several Yale scientists were on the program at StemCONN 2013, including: Dr. Robert Alpern, dean of Yale School of Medicine; Jun Lu, assistant professor of genetics; and Dr. Diane Krause, professor of laboratory medicine and associate director of the Yale Stem Cell Center. Krause was the chair of StemCONN 2013. Her research was recently profiled in YaleNews: http://news.yale.edu/2013/04/01/stem-cell-research-blooms-yale-and-connecticut
