Panasonic to boost output in China
TOKYO, March 18 (Kyodo) — Panasonic Corp. said Monday it will boost production of motors used in air purifiers and ventilation fans at its plant in Guangdong, China, amid growing demand for the products in the country and Southeast Asia.
The Japanese electronics maker said motor production will be boosted at Panasonic Ecology Systems Guangdong Co., a local subsidiary of Panasonic group company Panasonic Ecology Systems Co., more than twofold to 10 million motors annually in fiscal 2018 from 4.6 million now.
Panasonic has built an additional motor plant on the premises of the subsidiary and it will start operating this month, the company said.
The Guangdong plant also manufactures 3.5 million units of such products as air purifiers and ventilation fans that are shipped to the Middle East, North America and Europe in addition to Southeast Asia and China.
