TOKYO, March 6 (Kyodo) — Hitachi Systems Ltd. said Wednesday it has agreed with a Malaysian IT solution provider to set up an IT service joint venture in Malaysia.

The solutions arm of Hitachi Ltd. will acquire a 51 percent share in a wholly owned subsidiary of Sunway Technology Sdn Bhd and turn it into a joint venture, called Hitachi Sunway Information Systems in April.

Prior to Hitachi's acquisition, the subsidiary of the Malaysian firm will consolidate operations of its group companies located in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines. The joint venture plans to establish another in Vietnam this year.

Through the new company, Hitachi Systems and Sunway Technology will expand their marketing to Japanese and local companies on virtualization, cloud solutions and datacenter outsourcing among other services.
