TOKYO, Feb. 25 (Kyodo) — Toshiba Corp. said Monday it will enter negotiations with a Finnish nuclear power company, with the aim of supplying a 1,600-megawatt-class advanced boiling water reactor.

Fennovoima Oy plans to construct the Hanhikivi 1 nuclear power plant in Pyhajoki, Finland, having obtained parliamentary approval in July 2010, according to Toshiba.

Toshiba is expected to work with its U.S. subsidiary Westinghouse Electric Co., which has experience in the nuclear business in Europe, on winning the order.

The company has also submitted a tender for a similar deal with another Finnish firm Teollisuuden Voima Oyj, it added.
