TSU, Japan, Nov. 9 (Kyodo) — Marubeni Corp. has been awarded a contract to build and operate a large solar power plant on reclaimed land straddling the border of Mie and Aichi prefectures, prefecture officials said Friday.

Construction is expected to begin next year on a 78-hectare plot of land across the Mie city of Kuwana and town of Kisozaki and the Aichi city of Yatomi.

The solar facility will operate for 20 years with output capacity projected at 30,000 to 35,000 kilowatts.
