Santa Clara, Calif., February 10, 2012-NPD DisplaySearch, today announced that it has added hhgregg CEO Dennis L. May to its US FPD Smart Display Conference speaker roster. Kicking off day two of the conference, May will join The NPD Groups Vice President of Industry Analysis, Stephen Baker, for a conversation on the opportunities and challenges in the US CE retail segment in the coming year.

During the session, May will bring a veteran retailers perspective into the conversation about how to deliver TV industry growth in 2012. With a wide range of transformative product initiatives on the docket for 2012, everything from tablets and Ultrabooks™  to smart TVs and large screen FPDs will be discussed. Relationships in the display industry-all the way down to the retailer-will be critical in the success of these new products.

"The addition of Mr. May and Mr. Baker to the US FPD Smart Display Conference greatly adds to our prestigious speaker line-up. Their insights will extend the discussions on flat panel and smart display related sectors to the retail market," noted Paul Semenza, Senior Vice President for NPD DisplaySearch."

With the vast majority of FPD sales going through the retail channel in the US, both brands and retailers need to maintain an open dialogue to drive the market forward," said Stephen Baker. As one of the largest and fastest growing US retailers of flat panel TVs, hhgregg will be a vital component in successfully bringing initiatives like smart displays and Ultrabooks™ to the consumer.

May joined hhgregg in 1999. He has been Chief Executive Officer since August 2009. From 1999 to January 2003 he served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer in January 2003.
