ManTech pays $90 million for defense IT company

Government technology contractor ManTech International Corp. is buying Worldwide Information Network Systems Inc., a designer of communications networks, for $90 million in cash.

ManTech said the deal would add to its earnings per share next year and extend its reach into the defense and intelligence markets.

Shares of ManTech rose $1.98, or 5.5 percent, to close at $37.83.

Privately held Worldwide was founded in 2001 and is based in Seabrook, Md. It does work for the Pentagon, the State Department and other agencies.
