Video game publisher Activision Blizzard says its second-quarter net income grew, boosted by strong demand for digital offerings such as downloadable content for the popular "Call of Duty" games.
Activision Blizzard Inc. said Wednesday that it earned $335 million, or 29 cents per share, in the latest quarter. That's up 53 percent from $219 million, or 17 cents per share, in the same period a year earlier.
Activision says its revenue climbed 19 percent to $1.15 billion from $967 million.
Adjusted earnings and revenue surpassed Wall Street's expectations. These results account for special items and changes in revenue from games with online components.
The Santa Monica, Calif.-based company is raising its revenue outlook for the year. For the current quarter, however, its guidance is below analysts' expectations.
