By leveraging Digi's wireless solution, TankScan™ can focus on their core tank monitoring business

MINNETONKA, Minn. (May 10, 2011) - Digi International (NASDAQ: DGII) today announced a strategic alliance with TankScan™, a global tank monitoring solution provider and division of ATEK Products. TankScan is usingDigi’s ConnectPort® X cellular and Ethernet gateways and the iDigi® Device Cloud™ to enable remote access and management of storage tank information. The gateways transmit tank data via cellular and/or Ethernet connections to the network, allowing customers to access remote tank information from anywhere in the world. TankScan also uses the iDigi Device Cloud to simplify system installation, maintenance and support.

“Digi allowed us to enhance our product offering by providing a Wide Area Network (WAN) connection over cellular and Ethernet where none existed before,” said Jim Bartel, president, TankScan. “We can now remotely monitor our tanks to streamline the distribution process and improve customer service. This is enabling us to penetrate new markets with an enhanced tank monitoring solution.  Digi handles the connectivity while we focus on our core competency of tank monitoring and growing our business.”

“There are millions of tanks worldwide, and thousands of companies that rely on chemicals and other materials stored in tanks to build and deliver their products,”said Larry Kraft, senior vice president of global sales and marketing, Digi International. “With systems installed on more than 20,000 tanks across the U.S., TankScan is a leading provider of tank monitoring systems. Our products combined with the iDigi Device Cloud allow TankScan’s customers to easily and remotely access critical tank information.”

The TankScan solution featuring Digi wireless gateways and iDigi Device Cloud means their customers no longer need to send technicians on-site for tank level updates.

It also optimizes the distribution process by ensuring trucks are deployed only when necessary and enabling optimized routes. This translates into significant time, fuel and labor cost savings.
