A team of scientists at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute led by Dr. Ronald A DePinho reports that they have identified the root cause of a variety of age-related ailments such as waning energy, heart failure, failure of other organs and metabolic disorders including diabetes.
“What we have found is the core pathway of aging connecting several age-related biological processes previously viewed as independent of each other,” said DePinho, of the research, which is described in a report posted online by the journal Nature. DePinho, director of Dana-Farber’s Belfer Institute for Applied Cancer Science, said the research has thus far been conducted on mice.
