TOKYO (AP) — Japan’s anti-monopoly watchdog approved on Thursday a tie-up between Google and the Yahoo Japan Corporation, but warned that it would keep checking for possible violations.
The regulator, the Fair Trade Commission, said Thursday that it did not see any problems as long as the two companies continued to be separate and offered distinctive services.
Yahoo Japan has said it planned to start a search service using Google’s search and advertising technology by the end of this year.
