Robin Murphy, rescue robots to feature in Discovery Planet Green show Nov. 5

Tonight’s (Nov. 5) episode of the Discovery Planet Green channel’s show, Dean of Invention, will feature Texas A&M Engineering’s Dr. Robin Murphy and her rescue robots.

The show, “Robot Revolution,” will air at 9 p.m. Central Time on Discovery Planet Green (channel 103 on Suddenlink in Bryan-College Station).

The episode on robots was filmed with Dean Kamen at TEEX’s Disaster City.

Murphy is the Raytheon Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and director of the Center for Robot-Assisted Search and Rescue (CRASAR) at Texas A&M.

As a founder of the field of search-and-rescue robotics, Murphy has employed ground, air, and sea robots at a number of disaster sites, including the World Trade Center (2001), La Conchita, Calif., mudslides (2005) and Hurricanes Charley (2004), Dennis (2005), Katrina (2005) and Wilma (2005).
