Defense contractor Computer Sciences Corp. says its DynPort Vaccine Co. unit in Frederick has won a contract to explore prospects for European Union licensing of a plague vaccine.

CSC made the announcement Wednesday from its headquarters in Falls Church, Va.

The company says the contract from the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence is to scope the requirements for achieving licensure in the EU.

DynPort is currently in Phase 2 clinical trials of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration licensing process for the vaccine.

The vaccine was developed at an Army lab at Fort Detrick. DynPort then further developed and manufactured it for prospective use on U.S. and allied troops.
