Posital MCD encoders use a highly reliable magnetic measurement technology that provides 12-bit resolution (4,096 steps per revolution). Multi-turn models are available with a range of up to 8,192 revolutions (13-bits). The internal rotation counter uses a unique self-powered technology that eliminates the need for backup batteries, further reducing maintenance requirements. These low-cost encoders are available in a simple SSI interface that features several user-defined parameters that simplify initial set-up. They are also available with the more sophisticated CANopen field bus interface, commonly used by mobile equipment manufacturers. An analog interface (4-20 mA or 0-10 V) is also available, making these encoders a highly-reliable alternative to potentiometers. DeviceNet and SAE J1939 interfaces will be announced in the near future.
