Computer maker Dell Inc. said Tuesday that it has agreed to acquire Ocarina Networks, a San Jose, Calif.-based data storage company whose technology helps reduce data management costs.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
Dell said it plans to invest in additional engineering and sales capabilities and use Ocarina's technology to complement its EqualLogic line of enterprise hardware.
Dell shares were down 30 cents, or 2.2 percent, at $13.14 in midday trading.
