Rapidform XOR3 Simplifies Reverse Engineering of Damaged Parts
Rapidform XOR3 combines 3D scan data processing and parametric solid modeling to give users the ability to create CAD models from point clouds and polygon meshes. It can send CAD models to SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER, Siemens NX, and now AutoCAD.
New features coming in Rapidform XOR3 include:
? Modeling wizards that automate the process of creating various features, including extrusions, revolutions, sweeps and pipes.
? Streamlined liveTransfer, XOR's CAD interoperability technology.
? Native interoperability with AutoCAD.
? A new point cloud processing engine.
? A WYSIWYG batch process designer.
Another useful function is the ability to flatten a deformed data set. Parts selected for reverse engineering are often damaged or deformed, the ability to "straighten" out a raw data set before modeling can greatly simplify the reverse engineering process.
According to Ryan Bobryk, Applications Engineer at NeoMetrix Technologies, Inc,, in Lake Mary, FL, "we believe the new functionality available in XOR3 will greatly reduce the time required to create paramtric CAD models from scanned data.
