General Dynamics receives $253M Army contract

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (AP) — Defense contractor General Dynamics Corp. said Tuesday it received a $253 million contract from the U.S. Army to provide logistics support for the Stryker family of combat vehicles.

The contract will fund spare parts, maintenance of a spare-parts warehouse, repair-parts distribution and maintenance services on the Stryker fleet, General Dynamics said.

Work on the contract lasts from March 1, 2010 through Feb. 28, 2011.

Shares of General Dynamics rose $1.39, or 2.1 percent, to $67.74.
