CA acquires business software maker Oblicore
CA Inc. said Monday it has acquired the privately held business software provider Oblicore Inc.
The deals terms were not released.
CA said the acquisition of the Waltham, Mass., company will bolster software it provides to help other businesses handle information technology services contracts.
Oblicore's "Service Level Management" software uses technical data to measure a company's performance against the terms and conditions of a given contract. Its customers include AT&T Inc., ABN Amro, British Telecom and France Telecom among others.
CA expects the demand for this kind of software to grow as businesses increasingly switch to so-called "cloud" computing, in which computer functions are carried out via the Web rather than hosted on company servers.
Delivering Oblicore's software "through CA's thousands of expert sales, services and support professionals will allow us to bring the benefits of SLM to both CA's vast network of existing customers and a growing global market of new ones," Oblicore CEO Eric Converse said in a statement.
CA shares fell 17 cents to $22.94 in morning trading.
