Greenpeace CES Press Conference: The New Greenpeace Guide to Greener Electronics
At the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Greenpeace will release the latest version (number 14) of its Guide to Greener Electronics, which assesses and ranks eighteen global manufacturers of personal computers, mobile phones, TVs and games consoles according to their policies on toxic chemicals, recycling and climate change.
The Guide will help media attending CES to separate fact from fiction and focus in on companies that are making products that are environmentally-friendly and those that continue to produce products that do not represent the state of the art.
The ranking criteria reflect the demands of Greenpeace’s Toxic Tech campaign to the electronics companies to:
--Clean up their products by eliminating hazardous substances.
--Take-back and recycle their products responsibly once they become obsolete.
--Reduce the climate impacts of their operations and product
