A group of companies led by General Dynamics Corp. has received a contract worth up to $200 million to help bolster U.S. Army training.

The contract will improve the Army's ability to consolidate and manage its live combat training system, General Dynamics said.

The five-year contract has a maximum value of $200 million if all options are exercised. General Dynamics C4 Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics Corp., received two initial task orders valued at $23 million.

General Dynamics said the contract will help minimize acquisition costs, cut total ownership costs and promote the reuse of software and hardware components for training systems.

Shares of General Dynamics rose 1 cent to $67.15 in afternoon trading.
