This wallet will take your money and run
There’s chasing money and then there’s chasing money. According to Japan’s RocketNews24, one company has come up with a wallet that runs away before you run out of cash. (OK, it actually rolls away.) Not only does the “Living Wallet” sense its owner’s hand reaching for it and try to sneak off, it also, when caught, can scream “Don’t touch me!” and “Help me!” But, happily, its app can also be set to celebrate a savings goal by playing Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, 4th Movement. You can also set it to “consume” mode to permit spending.
I don’t know if there's really a company behind this prototype or if it actually intends to bring it to market. However, I see a market for such a wallet. With the holidays approaching, a Living Wallet would make a perfect gift from a parent to a teenage or college-age son or daughter as a not-so-subtle hint to curb their runaway spending. In fact, according to the accompanying video, it can even be set as a last resort to send a text to Mom letting her know another impulse buy is about to occur whereby they can recite one last “money doesn’t grow on trees” lecture.
