The most technologically-advanced toilet in the world
Though people often refer to the toilet as “the throne,” the euphemism has never been taken quite this literally before.
Kohler, the family-owned bath and kitchen company and inventor of all around fancy bathroom fixtures, has really gone all out with their newest creation, Numi. Their newest loo has all the typical—at least to Kohler—bells and whistles: heated seat, intuitive open and close lid, foot warmer, bidet functionality, deodorizer, and integrated air dryer.
But the really interesting part is they’ve added a Bluetooth to the system, so you can stream music or audio from your smartphone. You can also change the seven available ambient colors or use the SD card slot to create a custom playlist or personalized greeting. Plus, there is a service USB port for software updates by representatives. Fixing the toilet just got a whole lot more complicated.
All of these fancy features can be operated from a LCD-touchscreen interface. (I'm not sure about the germ factor here, but I'm trying not to think about it.)
There is one aspect that needs discussion. The Numi does have a battery pack that allows for 100 flushes, which could come in handy during a power outage.
I have only one thing to say about this ridiculous toilet: I want one. I’m not sure how I feel about the personalized greeting. That’s a little bit too Moon (2009 Kevin Spacey movie reference for me and I really don’t want my humble commode talking to me. It could be fun to scare guests, however. I love that is has the Kohler efficiency (dual flush), but also all these crazy things that I would never deem necessary, but sort of want now.
However, with a price tag of $6,653.30, chances are high this toilet will remain just a pipe dream.
