Richard Doyle's Community Blog

By this time on Tuesday, people are getting excited about special event.  If you're a fan of Aerosmith music, you're in for a treat - Draw the Line, the only endorsed Aerosmith tribute band will be the pumping out such classics as "Dream On", "Walk This Way", and "Rag Doll" while you eat, drink, and dance.  You still have two sessions to get through though, and here are some good choices.

ECAD to MCAD Integration Using CircuitWorks
Shaun Murphy, SolidWorks Corporation

As a former PCB designer (using mylar and crepe tape - I'm that old), any session on CircuitWorks interests me.  This one covers the key benefits of having a bi-directional link between ECAD and MCAD.  You'll also get a chance to meet co-presenter Rob Lacey who's been around CircuitWorks since..well..forever.

Spinning Through the Hot Zone: Thermal Analysis Challenges Overcome During Development of the Worlds Most Powerful Linear Accelerator
John Oliva, National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory
In addition to a catchy title, this one caught my eye because NSCL hosted a joint meeting of the WMSWUG and EMSWUG and everyone really enjoyed the tour.  This should be a very interesting case-study session.

Visualization 101 - The Basics of Appearances, Materials, and Rendering
Ron Bates, SolidWorks Corporation

If anyone can sort out the myriad of ways to make your SolidWorks models look "real", it's Ron.  Whether its applying material and/or appearance properties, or creating a final rendering, Ron will help get you there.

3DVIA Composer Hands-On Test Drive
Jake Smith, CATI
If you attend user group meetings, there's a good chance you've seen 3DVIA Composer in action.  Now here's your chance to try it out.  After this hands-on session, you can go back to your tech pubs folks and tell them how cool it was.

There's a break in between this block and the last sessions of the day, then it's time for some head banging fun.
