Green Grid Wants Earthy Data Centers

Energy News: The Green Grid, a non-profit consortium dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems, this week announched its technical summit to be held April 18-19 in Denver, Colorado. Officials said they hope to emerge from the summit with detailed technical objectives and program plans for 2007, focusing on three areas: definition and measurement of data center efficiency; guidance for data center architecture and planning; and guidance for saving energy efficiency during day-to-day operations. New members will also be announced, including Brocade Communications Systems, Cisco Systems, Juniper Networks, Novell, QLogic, and Texas Instruments. (Current members from the founding round include Advanced Micro Devices, American Power Conversion, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, and Sun Microsystems.)
