Excellence in electronics
Last year, ECN opened up nominations for the 2014 ECN Impact Awards in an effort to recognize the top products and services spanning the design engineering landscape. At first, I was skeptical of this new endeavor coming out of a recent economic slump that seemed to halt, or completely abolish, awards programs throughout the industry.
Working closely with the ECN staff as well the many companies that submitted nominations for consideration, I must admit that any early trepidation was for naught. The response was overwhelming, to the point where we had to leave the nomination page open on ecnawards.com longer than expected to catch up with the flood of submissions.
With great pride, I am pleased to announce the finalists spanning the 18 categories. I encourage you to keep a keen eye on ecnmag.com as we cover each finalist in depth, and discuss the merits of each new product. The extensive coverage will culminate May 6, 2014 at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas Hotel & Casino in conjunction with EDS 2014, a premier electronics distribution event put on by the Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA) and Electronics Representatives Association International (ERA).
As far as industry events go, EDS is a personal favorite and if you’ll be in Vegas the second week of May, I encourage you to shoot me an email and see if we can set up some time to talk about the industry (if you prefer the tables, such meetings can also be arranged).
I would like to thank our esteemed panel of judges for their efforts, including (but not limited to): Aimee Kalnoskas, Trusted Global Buyers Network; Bradd Johnson, Torex Semiconductor; Carlos Castillo, Loma Linda University; Harrison Beasley, Global Semiconductor Alliance; and Victor Meijers, ECIA. Your time and scrutiny did not go unnoticed, and our awards have benefitted greatly from your participation.
