Offering a 4-mm to 6-mm and a 6-mm to 8-mm option, Binder-USA’s Series 423 M16 field-attachable DIN connectors have a PG11 cable outlet for cable diameters from 8 mm to 10 mm. The products consist of 7 to 24 gold-plated contacts and an internal shielding ring that protects against EMI. When properly mated, the mated pair is
I closed out International CES 2009 by visiting L-com and Luminous Devices, and by taking a quick stroll through the North, Central, and South Halls again ("quick" being a relative term). Overall, CES 2009 didn't exhibit much innovation, at least anything groundbreaking. Sixense has some potential. I'll have to keep my eye on that. Energizer's Zinc Air Prismatic Battery could make a big splash in the small electronics market. As previously mentioned, I'll be covering the "ZAP Battery" in a future Efficiency Zone column. A number of companies were showing off advanced 3D technology, and in this humble editor's opinion, the tech may finally have matured.
Featuring a high current density of 7.900 A/cm³ (129 A/in.³), the BMR451 voltage regulator from Ericsson Power is a digitally controlled, non-isolated voltage regulator rated to 40 A. The voltage regulator measures 30.850 × 20 × 8.200 mm (1.215" × 0.787" × 0.323"), offers a 4.5-V to 14-V input voltage range, a 0.6-V to 3.6-V output voltage range and an MTBF figure of 2.600 million hours. The BMR451 is priced at $22.50.
Coming in the 1U form factor, the C1U-W-1200-12-Tx and C1U-W-12-48-Tx AC/DC front end power supplies from Murata Power Solutions provide 1,200 W (110/220 VAC) of high density power. The supplies require 9.2 W/in.³ power density minimises space. The C1U-W-1200-12-Tx has a main output of 12 V and standby outputs of
I had appointments with Energizer and Analog Devices today, and Samsung gave us a "booth tour." Samsung wasn't being pretentious when they called it a "tour." Believe me, the booth looks like a small house, and must have cost a small fortune. Energizer gave me a demo of their new Zinc Air Primatic Battery, which I'll feature in a future Efficiency Zone. Analog Devices had a host of new products, including an innovative controller that will inevitably replace the Wiimote, the Sixense. We also found time to check out a little company called Microsoft. Enjoy the images!
Incorporating a molded composite plug shell, coupling nut, and receptacle, the Amphe-GTR series of connectors from Amphenol features a reverse bayonet coupling that provides pairing and unpairing using a quarter-turn coupling device. Available formats include three, four, or five pin variations, a compression (setscrew) wire termination for either 4/6 AWG or 8/10 AWG, and silver-plated contacts
Protecting against thermal and mechanical stress, the MH Series of high CV ceramic capacitors from AVX has non-polar construction. Lead-free and RoHS-compliant, the series is rated at up to 100V with a maximum capacitance of 22 µF. The operating temperature is -55°C to +125°C. Applications include, input /output capacitors for industrial and telecoms applications, smoothing circuits, HID, and automotive high CV applications previously impossible due to case size limitations
Prototyping, testing, and burning in CSP (chip scale package), BGA (ball grid array), microBGA, and LGA (land grid array) devices, Aries Electronics’ CSP/BallNest ZIF-style hybrid socket operates in devices with a 0.30-mm pitch or larger. The product utilizes gold-plated pressure mount spring probes to maintain constant force throughout
Providing a min. output current of 1.3 A, Maxim Integrated Products’ MAX4810, MAX4811, and MAX4812 dual digital pulsers can be independently configured to enable unipolar or bipolar pulsing in high-voltage systems from low-voltage logic outputs. The 7-mm × 7-mm 56-pin TQFN-packaged units have 3 logic inputs per channel and
Based on the Emerald GP500C communication controller, GreenPeak Technologies’ new set of reference designs are designed for IEEE 802.15.4-compliant, 2.4-GHz RF remote controls and RF modules. The products integrate into consumer electronics devices, such as TVs, DVD players, and set-top boxes, which are found inside a cabinet or in another room. The reference designs contain a protocol stack of <4 KB and an embedded
Mounting in level applications, TURCK’s BCF10 noise-immune sensors present the ability to detect liquids with high concentrations of chlorides, such as soaps and cleaners. The capacitive device incorporates a compensating electrode configuration that allows the product to sense through the film or etch left on the inside wall of a plastic
Controlling a device under test through the DisplayPort connector only, Agilent Technologies’ and Quantum Data’s W2642A AUX channel controller fully automates physical layer testing of the DisplayPort main link for sink- and source-device testing. Automated physical layer tests can be made using Agilent test equipment, such as the
Exhibiting a frequency range from DC to 25 GHz, Teledyne Coax Switches’ CAS-37 Series tri-state attenuated switches can be switched to a low-loss state (<0.5 dB), an attenuated state (20 dB across a broadband), or an open state with one of the two RF inputs terminated into a 50-Ohm termination. The products exhibit an operating
