January 9, 2009 6:14 am | Product Releases | Comments

Providing a min. output current of 1.3 A, Maxim Integrated Products’ MAX4810, MAX4811, and MAX4812 dual digital pulsers can be independently configured to enable unipolar or bipolar pulsing in high-voltage systems from low-voltage logic outputs. The 7-mm × 7-mm 56-pin TQFN-packaged units have 3 logic inputs per channel and

Reference Designs Serve RF Remote Controls

January 9, 2009 5:46 am | Product Releases | Comments

Based on the Emerald GP500C communication controller, GreenPeak Technologies’ new set of reference designs are designed for IEEE 802.15.4-compliant, 2.4-GHz RF remote controls and RF modules. The products integrate into consumer electronics devices, such as TVs, DVD players, and set-top boxes, which are found inside a cabinet or in another room. The reference designs contain a protocol stack of <4 KB and an embedded

Noise-Immune Sensors Detect Chloride Liquids

January 9, 2009 5:29 am | Product Releases | Comments

Mounting in level applications, TURCK’s BCF10 noise-immune sensors present the ability to detect liquids with high concentrations of chlorides, such as soaps and cleaners. The capacitive device incorporates a compensating electrode configuration that allows the product to sense through the film or etch left on the inside wall of a plastic

AUX Channel Controller Enables DisplayPort Testing

January 9, 2009 5:09 am | Agilent Technologies | Product Releases | Comments

Controlling a device under test through the DisplayPort connector only, Agilent Technologies’ and Quantum Data’s W2642A AUX channel controller fully automates physical layer testing of the DisplayPort main link for sink- and source-device testing. Automated physical layer tests can be made using Agilent test equipment, such as the

Attenuated Switches Perform at Three Levels

January 9, 2009 4:58 am | Product Releases | Comments

Exhibiting a frequency range from DC to 25 GHz, Teledyne Coax Switches’ CAS-37 Series tri-state attenuated switches can be switched to a low-loss state (<0.5 dB), an attenuated state (20 dB across a broadband), or an open state with one of the two RF inputs terminated into a 50-Ohm termination. The products exhibit an operating

At 1.9 microns, the fiber-coupled modules provide up to 20 W of output power from a single

CES 2009 Day 1

January 9, 2009 12:46 am | by Jason Lomberg, Technical Editor | News | Comments

So far, the big themes this year seem to be Green Technology and 3D. 3D Technology has been around for decades, mainly as a gimmick in movie theaters, but it may finally have come of age. Most of the major manufacturers have 3D tech on display, and filmmaker James Cameron (Titanic) is partnering with Panasonic to use 3D tech on his new movie, Avatar. This Editor tried out the various 3D displays, and they seemed leagues ahead of their gimmicky ancestors. As always, enjoy!
