Hundreds rally for legislation on climate change

March 2, 2009 11:08 am | Blogs | Comments

Hundreds of demonstrators are urging Congress to pass legislation to reduce greenhouse gases, and they're using the Capitol power plant as a symbol of the problem. Despite attempts by lawmakers to clean up the power plant in southeast Washington, it still burns coal and accounts for a third of the legislative branch's greenhouse gas emissions. Monday's rally on Capitol Hill was being followed by a march to the power plant, where some demonstrators planned to block entrances and get arrested.

Self-Programming Hybrid Memristor/Transistor Circuit Could Continue Moore's Law

March 2, 2009 10:48 am | Product Releases | Comments

In a recent study, a team of researchers from Hewlett-Packard Laboratories in Palo Alto, California, have fabricated and demonstrated a hybrid memristor/transistor circuit for the first time. The team demonstrated conditional programming of a nanomemristor by the hybrid circuit, showing that the same elements in a circuit can be configured to act as logic, signal routing, and memory.

One-Volt Oscillators Provide Low Current Consumption Across Full Frequency Range

March 2, 2009 10:47 am | Product Releases | Comments

Fox Electronics' 1-V F200 Series oscillators come in a 2.5 mm × 2.0 mm package and feature a standby function that reduces the oscillator's current consumption to 5 µA for efficient power use. The F200's low current draw of 2.5 mA across the 1.8 MHz to 32 MHz frequency range and 3.5 mA from 32.1 MHz to 50.0 MHz makes the oscillator series appropriate for
