Modular and Standalone USB Modems
October 30, 2007 7:15 am | Product Releases | CommentsRadicom Research, Inc. introduced a line of USB hardware modems in modular and standalone configurations. The modems process data using their own hardware, and they do not use any processing power of the host computer. These modems are CDC-compliant, and they are supported by Microsoft CDC modem drivers and Linux CDC-ACM drivers. They work with Linux, Windows and Mac operating systems.
USB to RS-232/RS-485 Converter
October 30, 2007 7:09 am | Product Releases | CommentsOTEK Corp. announced its USB converter that allows the interface of any RS-232 or -485 equipment with any USB port without the need for an external power supply. The USB draws its power from the USB port and since the connectors match any existing PC DB9, the USB plugs to the DB9 on the existing equipment, requiring one cable (type A to type B) for the USB end. For RS-485, the USB comes with a screw terminal connector.
High-Density PC Board Assemblies
October 30, 2007 7:03 am | Product Releases | CommentsEndicott Interconnect (EI) Technologies, Inc. introduced large, high complexity PC boards for use in compute-intensive applications such as servers and mainframes for defense, aerospace and commercial uses. High-density, double sided, hybrid PC board assemblies (SMT/PTH/press fit) are available with an average component count of > 1,500, including high-I/O area array modules (CGA, LGA, PBGA) and dense, high-I/O connectors in sizes up to 32" × 44".
Digital Pen Technology Platform
October 30, 2007 6:49 am | Product Releases | CommentsInPlay Technologies introduced its FinePoint MPD-9xx Series, offering a full range of user-defined digital options. It provides a cordless, active RF digital pen in battery-powered or battery-free versions. The digitizer behind the LCD screen uses electromagnetic technology to communicate with the pen as it moves across the surface, reporting the tip status, sensitivity and pen position.
Compact PXI Switch Matrix Systems
October 30, 2007 6:19 am | Product Releases | CommentsPickering Interfaces introduced its BRIC2 matrices that occupy two slots of a PXI chassis, providing a more compact system for matrix applications not requiring the higher crosspoint count of four- or eight-slot BRICs. Each BRIC2 is a completely configured matrix that requires no terminal blocks for users to wire together and which maximizes the bandwidth of the switches. They are available in a variety of configurations with matrix sizes up to 276 × 4 in single-pole configurations.
System Supports PCMCIA Technology
