Have you experienced a difference between your devices’ actual battery life relative to what the manufacturer tells you to expect? I thought so.
Up to 30 percent smaller than comparable products, the POWERMOD PSX family of PCB interconnects are intended for use when board space is at a premium and overall mating heights must be minimized. with power contacts rated to 60 amps and signal contacts rated to 1 amp (ratings per UL1977).
Targeting a range of drive applications across a variety of industries, Infineon Technologies announced the availability of microcontrollers (MCUs) with embedded flash technology, including 8-, 16-, and 32-bit devices for industrial applications.
A new walking, talking robot from Japan has a female face that can smile and has trimmed down to 43 kilograms (95 pounds) to make a debut at a fashion show. But it still hasn't cleared safety standards required to share the catwalk with human models. Developers at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, a government-backed organization, said their "cybernetic human," shown Monday, wasn't ready to help with daily chores or work side by side with people — as many hope robots will be able to do in the future.
Using a zero voltage switching technique, the RD212 200-W DC/DC converter reference design from Fairchild Semiconductor can operate at an efficiency of up to 94 percent. With user's guide, application notes and schematics, the design uses the FEB212 evaluation board and features the FSFR2100 FPS power switch, PFM controller, and a high-voltage gate driver with two fast-recovery MOSFETs.
With much of the mobile world yet to migrate to 3G mobile communications, let alone 4G, European researchers are already working on a new technology able to deliver data wirelessly up to 12.5Gb/s. The technology – known as ‘millimetre (mm)-wave’ or microwave photonics – has commercial applications not just in telecommunications (access and in-house networks) but also in instrumentation, radar, security, radio astronomy and other fields.
Addressing the need for increased digital audio functionality in devices, the AVR32 ATEVK1105 Digital Audio Gateway kit from Atmel uses AVR AT32UC3A 32-bit Flash microcontrollers to create systems for digital audio streaming, decoding and playback. The AVR32 CPU’s DSP functionality handles audio decoding and the UC3A handles two audio interfaces with a stereo 16-bit bitstream audio DAC with internal FIR and Comb filters.
Additions to the B5910XJ* family of PTC inrush current limiters for power supplies from EPCOS have increased heat capacity from 2 J/K to 2.3 J/K. The PTCs are designed for voltages of 260 V, 440 V, and 560 V with rated resistances of 22 ?, 56 O, and 100 O. Six types of leaded PTC inrush current limiters with heat capacities of between
The HART Loop Converter (HLC) from Pepperl+Fuchs allows users to access the digital information from HART-enabled field devices and makes it available to the analog world of process control. The HLC uses the HART protocol to communicate with the field device connected to it, and transfers its digital values into analog signals
The LP4 series illuminated pushbutton switch from E-Switch-Lamb Industries has two termination options: a vertical PCB mount and a right angle PCB mount. LED color options are blue, green, red, white, and yellow. Other features include: electrical life of 50,000 cycles; operating force of 250 +/- 100 gf; contact rating of 100 mA @ 30 VDC; contact resistance
The Model 4331-200 CellMite LVDT AC (Linear Variable Differential Transformer) Digital Signal Conditioner Board from Electro Standards Laboratories connects directly to two standard AC LVDT transducers and simultaneously generates a serial output for connection to a PC and a +/-10V analog output
Able to integrate with existing IT and building management systems, APC’s InfraStruXure Central, Capacity Manager, and Change Manager provides a standardized method of integrating rack-level power, cooling, and environmental data and alarms into one centralized system. The architecture correlates the physical infrastructure of the data center “white space” with the supporting building infrastructure, providing the ability to create, store and push the system configuration out to similar APC devices with a Network Management Card.
Measuring 2.64” x 1.57” x 0.73”, the ECP20 Series of AC/DC power supplies from XP Power has an output of 20 W for a power density of 6.6 W/in². Single-output units can deliver voltages of 3.3, 5, 9, 12, 24, 30 or 48 VDC. Dual output models provide ±12, ±15 or ±24 VDC. The no-load power consumption is less than 0.3 W. All versions have a Class II input and a peak load capability that can provide 130% of rated output power for a maximum of 30 seconds.
The Fredericks Company has announced availability of its newest TrueTILT dual axis wide angle electrolytic tilt sensor. The sensor is now available in two different angle and linear ranges (Part #0717-4318-99 + 60° angle/+ 25° linear and Part #0717-4319-99 + 50° angle/+ 20° linear), and robust all metal construction provides durability as well as
Honoring the next generation of American innovators, Intel Corporation today announced the winners of America’s oldest and most prestigious pre-college science competition, the Intel Science Talent Search, a program of Society for Science & the Public. Eric Larson, 17, of Eugene, Ore., won the top award, a $100,000 scholarship from the Intel Foundation, for his research project classifying mathematical objects called fusion categories. Eric’s work describes these in certain dimensions for the first time.
