Connect Tech and congatec announced today that Connect Tech has based the design of its latest PCI/104-Express Single Board Computer on congatec's Qseven modules. The new carrier board supports the PCI/104-Express form factor, making Connect Tech the only manufacturer incorporating Qseven to create an Atom-based CPU board in the PC/104 space. Now, current PC/104 applications can immediately benefit from a low power Atom solution.

"By marrying Connect Tech's PC/104 products with Qseven, users now have an I/O platform with a scalable CPU. This gives them immediate access to an Atom-based product today, as well as access to future generations of Atom so their products will never become obsolete," stated Ron Mazza, general manager of congatec US. "Connect Tech has been a leader in providing peripherals to the industrial and embedded markets for the past 25 years, with PC/104 being a significant portion of their product offering. Together our two companies are providing a solution for Atom-based PC/104 applications that is leading the development of a new generation of products in this area."

"By adding our own line of CPU boards we become a solutions provider for our customers in addition to offering a host of add on products," stated David Worthen, President of Connect Tech. "We instantly have more to offer every current customer that we support today. congatec was a natural choice for us; with their leadership position, global reach and Technology Partner Program they are an ideal fit. From our initial project discussions, through the various design stages, congatec has provided an outstanding level of support."

Through their joint efforts, Connect Tech and congatec added Qseven module features such as PCI Express, USB2.0, serial, PS/2 keyboard and mouse, Gigabit Ethernet, VGA and LVDS to its PCI/104-Express Single Board Computer. This allows customers to now build system prototypes with a greatly reduced development cycle. Not only does the Connect Tech Xtreme/CPU line of products allow for immediate prototyping, but it is cost-effective all the way from prototypes to large volume applications. Through the Technology Partner Program, customers will also benefit from the design services of the Connect Tech engineering team to create customer-specific versions that ensure that both time to market and price targets are met.

The D&D bracer is a fairly quick, fun, nerdy LilyPad project. The final product is a wearable bracer with a display that will randomly generate numbers between 1 and 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 20, or 100 in response to arm movement, so it can effectively replace all of the dice in your bag for a D&D session.

Sustainable?
Sustainable?

I'd like some genius to define sustainable. Could we count something that we can keep doing for 100 billion years - beyond the death of the Universe as we currently understand such things - as sustainable? How about a billion years?
