Tangent Offers Solid-State, Rugged Mini UX ComputerThe Rugged Mini UX is a solid-state, fanless, rugged x86 computer for harsh environments. It withstands shock, dust, vibration, humidity, extreme temperatures, and electromagnetic interference. The design includes a hard drive mounted on four gel shock absorbers, rated to 15G of shock resistance. An oversized heat pipe and heat sink, Compact Flash storage, and Enhanced Speed Step technology are also included. I/O options include four USB 2.0 ports, six COM ports, WiFi, VGA, DVI, GPIO, and an optional DC wiring harness. The system uses just 44W at 100 percent utilization. Intel processor options are the efficient Celeron M, mid-range Core Solo, or high-end Core Duo. The Mini UX can be wall-mounted or attached to a display screen via its mounting flanges. It starts at $1,299 with Microsoft Windows XP Professional.

Russia has jumped on the CFL bandwagon, and decided to ban the incandescent bulb. As of January 1, 2014, the manufacture and sale of all incandescent bulbs will be prohibited in Russia.
