GUI reference designAmulet Technologies announced the availability of six new plug & play LCD Evaluator Kits for popular displays from Hantronix, Tianma and Shelly. Amulet’s LCD Evaluator Program, also announced, is said to be the industry’s first program to provide plug-and-play GUI reference designs for individual LCD displays from multiple LCD vendors. This LCD Evaluator Program partners can now provide their customers with near instantaneous evaluation and prototyping of GUI displays, with volume production in as little as one month. The reference designs provide he hardware and software required to turn an LCD display into a graphical user interface, including Amulet’s controller board powered by its GEM Graphical OS Chip for color displays, an integrated evaluation board (EVB) optimized for a specific display, power supply, USB cable, stylus and a 30-day trial license of GEMstudio. Designers can simply connect a supported display with the controller board in the kit, power it on, and the display is up and running. Using Amulet’s GEMstudio GUI design tool, the designer can easily create a GUI for their embedded application.

The D&D bracer is a fairly quick, fun, nerdy LilyPad project. The final product is a wearable bracer with a display that will randomly generate numbers between 1 and 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 20, or 100 in response to arm movement, so it can effectively replace all of the dice in your bag for a D&D session.
