non-contact safety switchesTapeswitch is expanding is product line with Mechan Controls, a British designer and manufacturer of machine guard safety systems whose non-contact safety switches ranges from simple, low cost magnetic safety versions through fully electronic safety systems with the option of 500,000 unique codes for the switches. All Mechan non-contact switches are fully sealed and encapsulated. This gives a rating of at least IP67. In effect, they can be run under water, washed regularly with high pressure sprays, run in dusty or dirty / oily environments with little or no effect on the performance. Non-contact switches are appropriate in the food processing industry, wet/wash down areas, where hygiene is critical and high pressure hose wash-down is required; and dusty, dirty environments, such as construction material production. As the switch and actuator are non-contact, there is no mechanical wear and tear each time the guard is opened or closed. The nominal 10 mm switching distance is, in practice, plenty of room to mount the switches with a small gap and to allow the switch to operate. It also allows for gate movement/vibration.

The D&D bracer is a fairly quick, fun, nerdy LilyPad project. The final product is a wearable bracer with a display that will randomly generate numbers between 1 and 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 20, or 100 in response to arm movement, so it can effectively replace all of the dice in your bag for a D&D session.

Sustainable?
Sustainable?

I'd like some genius to define sustainable. Could we count something that we can keep doing for 100 billion years - beyond the death of the Universe as we currently understand such things - as sustainable? How about a billion years?
