Astronauts install space station's last hub

The shuttle Endeavour crew bolted the last connecting module onto the International Space Station on Friday, completing more than a decade of major construction on the outpost. During the first of three spacewalks planned during Endeavour's 13-day mission, astronauts Robert Behnken and Nicholas Patrick prepared the 18-tonne module to be transferred from the shuttle's cargo bay to the station.

First Russian launch from French Guiana delayed-agency

The first launch of a Russian space rocket from a site outside Moscow's control has been delayed while engineers test a service tower, Interfax news agency reported on Friday. A modified Soyuz cargo ship had been due to take off before the end of this year from Europe's spaceport in French Guiana.

Palm suspends production due to Chinese New Year: source

Palm Inc is suspending production of its smartphones for the Chinese New Year, as all of them are made in China, but it will resume operations by the end of the month, a source told Reuters on Thursday. The source confirmed parts of a report from industry tracker OTR Global that Palm has suspended production of its namesake smartphone, although not for the entire month of February as the OTR report said.

Google staunchly defends pact to digitize books

Google Inc argued in a staunch and sometimes eloquent brief that an agreement reached with the Authors Guild to digitize millions of books was legal and a contribution to human knowledge. Google's ambitious plan has been praised for expanding access to books but the Justice Department criticized it on February 4 on a variety of grounds, saying it potentially violated antitrust and copyright laws.

BP expands program that rolls back gas prices
