Microsemi Corporation extended its family of DC-to-DC controllers and switching regulators with the introduction of a synchronous buck switching regulator in a compat multi-chip module with built-in power functionality. The NX9415 is designed for step-down DC-to-DC converter applications in LCD TVs, set-top boxes, DSL modems, netbooks, telecom, networking and other point-of-load DC-to-DC applications. Microsemi’s use of advanced multi-chip module (MCM) packaging enables the NX9415 to convert 8- to 22-volt input voltages down to as low as 0.8 volts with an output current of up to 5 A, while occupying a small, 4 mm x 4 mm footprint and maintaining the device’s high-frequency capability. Microsemi asserts that alternative, monolithic silicon solutions require a die size with a significantly larger footprint in order to achieve the same high frequency and low drain to source on-resistance as the NX9415.

The D&D bracer is a fairly quick, fun, nerdy LilyPad project. The final product is a wearable bracer with a display that will randomly generate numbers between 1 and 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 20, or 100 in response to arm movement, so it can effectively replace all of the dice in your bag for a D&D session.

Sustainable?
Sustainable?

I'd like some genius to define sustainable. Could we count something that we can keep doing for 100 billion years - beyond the death of the Universe as we currently understand such things - as sustainable? How about a billion years?
